Join a local, friendly amateur dramatics group.
CBTG has been operational since 1958. Membership is open to all who meet the minimum age requirements for the group and our new members events and auditions are always open for anyone to attend. Each year we put on a minimum of 1 play, plus our annual pantomime. To attend an open event and join CBTG, simply come along to Arden Hall at the time and date shown on our flyers and posts on both our Facebook page and home page. These are distributed a few weeks before each open event takes place.
Dont forget, we always host new members nights before each audition. This is your chance to come along, meet our membership, and get a feel of what it's like to be part of the group without the pressure of auditions.
Frequently asked questions
When is the next audition/new members event?
We host these a minimum of twice a year. Details of any upcoming events are available on our facebook page or on the news feed of our home page.
How much is membership?
As of September 2021, membership costs £25 for adults, and £10 for children and concessions. Membership is paid anually.
Do I need experience with acting?
No. In fact, many of our membership started with us with no experience at all.
What is the minimum age limit?
Currently, we do not accept members younger than 8 years of age for our pantomimes. The minimum age for our plays is 14 years of age.
Are members guaranteed a part in the performances?
Though we'd love to, we cannot cast every member in our performances. However, there is plenty of opportunity for non-cast members to help out with productions, such as directing, producing, back-stage support, set design and building and front-of-house support.
Do members have to act?
No. Members can choose whether to audition or not just like everyone else. There are also opportunities to help out back stage, with costumes or set building and front-of-house.
Where do you rehearse?
Generally, all rehearsals and performances take place at Arden Hall, Castle Bromwich. If there is any deviation from this, you will always be told prior to the season commencing.
When do you rehearse?
Rehearsals take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30PM. Leading up to show week, rehearsal times may increase to include full day Sunday rehearsals, plus some weekday evening rehearsals.
Can I come along just to watch?
Sadly, we cannot allow people to come by to watch the rehersals take place before the show unless they are members of the group, or are a parent/carer of a younger member. If you'd like to see the shows, you can buy a ticket when available from ticketsource.co.uk/cbtg - If you're interested in helping out, our new members nights are the best event to find out more about the group, details of which will be available on our Facebook and home page.
I am a parent/carer and my child is interested in being a member, do I have to be involved too?
There is no requirement for any parent/carer to have any involvement in the group. We do ask, however, that parents/carers remain on site where possible during rehersals. Though we do have safeguarding procedures in place, and first aid support is available at the Arden Hall site, ultimately the responsibility of a child remains with their primary carer during rehersals.
